Academic competitions let you flex your skills, individually or in a team, against students from other universities. They also provide opportunities to network with professionals in your field.

HR Games

The HR Games sponsored by the Society for Human Resource Management consist of game show styled matches of undergraduate students from various colleges and universities. The questions for the matches are divided into categories similar to those used in the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification exam. Teams from Indiana Tech have won several state and regional titles at the HR Games.

Cyber Defense

Our Cyber Defense Team competes in statewide, regional and national competitions. The competitions are designed to test each team’s ability to secure a networked computer system while maintaining standard business functionality. Teams are scored on the basis of their ability to detect and respond to outside threats, including cyber-attack while maintaining availability of existing network services such as mail servers and web servers, respond to business requests such as the addition or removal of additional services, and balance security against varying business needs.

Marketing contests

Students in our business programs have had opportunities to compete in competitions to develop marketing plans for local or regional organizations. In March 2013, Indiana Tech was one of four local universities with a team of students participating in “The Pitch.” As part of the competition organization by the American Advertising Federation of Fort Wayne, the students were asked to put together a marketing plan for the Three Rivers Festival, the largest annual summer festival in Fort Wayne. After presenting their work, they received feedback from local advertising executives.

For the 2013-14 academic year, Indiana Tech was one of 18 universities with students participating in a competition to develop a marketing and communications plan for the Indiana State Department of Agriculture.
