Cyber Patriot Camp

Learn About Cybersecurity: An Important, Exciting and Growing Career Field

Indiana Tech’s cybersecurity degree program is partnering with the Air Force Association’s CyberPatriot program to hold this week-long summer camp for middle school-aged students.

Through in-depth teaching, coupled with hands-on application, campers will be immersed in a cyberspace experience designed to introduce them to exciting career opportunities in the field of cybersecurity. Throughout the week, campers will train on operations; the experience will culminate on Friday when they protect and defend their network and systems during a simulated cyber event.

Date

June 26-30, 2023 | 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

The camp begins on Monday, June 26, and ends Friday, June 30. Campers should arrive at 8:45 a.m. to check in inside Andorfer Commons. The camp begins at 9 a.m. and check out is between 1:30 and 2 p.m.

Registration

Fill out the registration form below to sign up your child for the summer camp. After you’ve submitted the form, you will receive an email for payment.

Registration is limited to 24 students for each camp.

Costs

Cost is $160 per student.

Cost includes all project materials, lunch on campus and an adult-sized t-shirt.

The STEAM Academy provides scholarships to reduce camp and program fees for families and individuals that request assistance and qualify.

The following is a tentative day-by-day outline of the topics campers will explore.

[MONDAY – MODULE 1]

  • The field of cybersecurity and career opportunities
  • Cyber ethics
  • Online safety
  • How computers work
  • Virtual machines
  • Cyber threats​
  • The CyberPatriot National Youth Cyber Defense Competition

[Tuesday – MODULE 2]

  • Cybersecurity principles
  • Basic Windows security policies and tools
  • Account management
  • Windows file protections
  • Auditing and monitoring

Students will follow along and work with the Windows 10 demonstration image.

[Wednesday – MODULE 3]

  • Linux
  • Ubuntu 16 terminology and concepts
  • Basic GUI security
  • Intro to CLI

Students will follow along and work with the Ubuntu 16 demonstration image.

[Thursday – MODULE 4]

  • Basic command line security
  • Intermediate Ubuntu security

Students will follow along and work with the Ubuntu 16 demonstration image.

[Friday – MODULE 5]

Students will compete against their fellow campers on Windows 10 and Ubuntu 16 competition images.
