Utility Emergencies

If you smell natural gas:

• Immediately evacuate the area where the smell of natural gas is prevalent. If possible, activate the manual fire pull station while you exit. Call 911 to report the location of gas leak. Do not use the telephone near a ruptured gas line or where the smell of natural gas is prevalent.
• Contact Indiana Tech Safety & Security at extension 2230 and report exact location of gas leak. Do not use the telephone near a ruptured gas line or where the smell of natural gas is prevalent.

If the university experiences an electrical outage:

• If power is out on campus and you have not received a notice from the university, please alert Indiana Tech Safety & Security at extension 2230.
• Watch for messages from Indiana Tech through the Blackboard Connect platform and on IndianaTech.edu for information related to the outage.
• If the outage is caused by downed power lines, place a report by calling 911 and Indiana Tech Safety & Security, at extension 2230. Stay away from downed power lines.

If there is a water leak:

• Immediately contact Indiana Tech Safety & Security, at extension 2230, to report the leak.
