Accountability Areas
If you are notified to evacuate the building due to fire or other safety hazards, please go to the following locations after leaving your building.
Active Shooter
An active shooter is an individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a confined and populated area.
Bomb Threats/Explosions
Evacuate the affected building immediately and call 911.
Chemical Spills
Avoid the affected area and contact security immediately.
Crime Reporting
Contact security immediately.
Earthquake
Although the risk of a severe earthquake in Fort Wayne is rare, take these actions.
Fire/Building Evacuation
Remain calm. Leave through nearest marked exit.
Information Security Incidents
Your immediate action can help protect Indiana Tech’s data assets and networks.
Medical Emergencies
In the event of a medical emergency, take these actions.
Shelter, Secure and Lockdown
If a threat of violence is imminent on campus, one of these protocols will be activated and announced.
Snow and/or Ice Emergencies
Do not drive in extremely snowy or icy conditions unless absolutely necessary.
Tornadoes
If a tornado warning has been issued, take shelter immediately.
Terrorism/Threat Disasters
Most threats are received over the phone but it could also be a note or suspicious package.
Utility Emergencies
If you smell natural gas, call 911 immediately. If power lines are down, stay away.
