Indiana Tech’s Summit Music Series begins Aug. 22
July 27, 2022Indiana Tech, with the support of the Auer Foundation, will host seven concerts on campus this fall as part of the Summit Music Series. All performances are free, and all are welcome to attend.
The first show will feature Jesse MacLeod on Monday, Aug. 22 at noon. A former hip-hop artist and son of blues man, Doug MacLeod, Jesse MacLeod has crafted a sound that is right where Americana, roots rock and pop meet. He will play in the university’s Central Grounds coffee house inside Summit Hall at 1401 E. Washington Blvd.
The Edward D. and Ione Auer Foundation is a private charitable foundation based in Fort Wayne, Indiana, that awards grants exclusively for charitable purposes. Ione Breeden Auer created the foundation in 1984. Funding for the foundation comes from lifetime gifts from Edward D. and Ione Auer, as well as the proceeds of their estates.

Jesse started as a hip-hop emcee, grinding it out in the underground hip-hop scene of Los Angeles, but in his early 20s was pulled to share his story in a different way. The son of blues man, Doug MacLeod, Jesse grew up with his old man’s music—and the truth it revealed. He has crafted a sound that is right where Americana, roots rock and pop meet.

Manny is a pop/soul singer-songwriter who made a name for himself as a top 14 American Idol finalist. His music brings the secular and the sacred into conversation with each other, as he writes and covers songs that demonstrate the beauty, pain and hope that comprise the human experience as a whole.

Shanice pours pure, unfiltered soul into her listener’s hearts. She has managed to find a sweet spot between acoustic soul, blues, and “folky-pop” that sits just right. Though listeners often compare her to the likes of India.Arie, Corinne Bailey Rae and Tracy Chapman, Shanice credits artists such as Jason Mraz and Jack Johnson as musical influences.
Monday, Sept. 19 • Keegan Ferrell

Keegan studies the works of old-school jazz and R&B greats to create a sound that is uniquely his own. He pulls influences from John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, John Mayer, Bruno Mars, D’Angelo, Stevie Wonder, Daniel Caesar and Mac Ayres. Needing to be closer to the action, Keegan moved to Nashville to focus on writing and performing his music. He spends time writing, playing, and producing original music as well as unique takes on popular tracks. His debut album, “Finer Things” is available now. You can watch Keegan on Season 20 of NBC’s “The Voice.”

Charming, engaging and an artist who can speak firsthand about her immigrant experience in America, singer-songwriter Alfa delivers lovingly-crafted pop songs as her soundtrack to life’s many stories. An all-American, Philippine-born, New Jersey-raised girl with a preternatural love of music, Alfa has polished her performance chops over 13 years in the New York and Los Angeles music scenes. Her catchy songs and captivating voice have landed her opening slots for major acts like Sam Smith, Shawn Mendes, Us the Duo and Howie Day.
Monday, Oct. 3 • Jay Filson

Jay is a true singer-songwriter whose favorite way to connect with people is by sharing songs. After quitting his job in 2017, he moved to Nashville to pursue music full time. Jay has toured the country, drawing comparisons to the likes of Ed Sheeran and Ben Rector.
Monday, Oct. 10 • Taylor Reed

Taylor’s soulful strings, angelic voice and twist of jazz earned her APCA female solo artist of the year in 2019. Her formative influences range from innovative icons such as Janet Jackson, Coldplay and Mary J. Blige , to classical pillars like Johan Sebastian Bach. Her new original work connects on a human level, finding common ground in shared experiences and exposing beauty and hope through new perspective.
