Indiana Tech Finishes Second in Learfield IMG College Directors’ Cup Standings
July 2, 2021Indiana Tech took second place, its highest placement ever, in the 2020-21 NAIA Learfield IMG College Directors’ Cup standings as the final point totals were released Friday by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).
Tech racked up 881.50 points over the past year and was led by four national championships – women’s bowling, men’s indoor track and field, women’s indoor track and field and women’s outdoor track and field. The Warriors collected 302 points over the spring championships, which included a third-place finish from the men’s outdoor track and field program and national championship appearances from baseball, women’s tennis and men’s volleyball in addition to women’s outdoor track and field title. Women’s tennis was not counted in the final standings as the Warriors had already scored in 13 countable sports.
Tech recorded 522 points in the winter championship season with men’s basketball, women’s basketball, men’s bowling and men’s wrestling all scoring along with the national titles from women’s bowling and men’s and women’s indoor track and field. The Orange and Black collected 57 points from the fall season thanks to a national tournament appearance by men’s soccer.
Keiser University took home the Directors’ Cup with 950 points while the Warriors edged out Indiana Wesleyan University by 25 points for the Hoosier title and Aquinas College by 475.5 points for the lead among Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) schools.
