Renowned Arts Group Comes to Indiana Tech

The nationally recognized, award-winning performing arts program from Detroit Cass Technical High School will perform live at Indiana Tech on January 23 at 7:00pm. Detroit Cass’ Readers’ Theater program is an aggregation of actors, singers, poets and artists who will present a program entitled “This Hurts” in the university’s Multi-Flex Theater in the Academic Center. The performance is free and open to the public.

“This Hurts” is a show which combines published pieces of literature, song, and movement in an artistic way to provide the viewing audience with a way to connect with and better understand emotional and other abuse. The show helps viewers identify signs and possible solutions to abuse and its effects, such as low self-esteem, anxiety, frequent crying, feeling afraid and helplessness. The Detroit Cass performers explore affects, prevention, popular perceptions, and cultural causes of abuse, as seen in athletes, family units, and school settings.

The Detroit Cass Readers’ Theater program is sponsored in part through a grant from the Auer Foundation to Indiana Tech. Event admission is free, with free parking also provided in the Academic Center parking lot at 1600 East Washington Boulevard, Fort Wayne.
