Recycling
Indiana Tech strives to be environmentally friendly by recycling and reducing waste wherever possible. We currently recycle:
- Ink toners/cartridges
- Batteries
- Electronic waste
- Food Waste (kitchen prep waste only)
- Paper/cardboard
- Metal
- Grease
- Oil
- Mercury-containing objects
Ink/toners cartridges
Ink/toner cartridges are recycled by Safety-Kleen. In order to recycle these items, they should be packaged in their original packaging if possible, if not please make sure they are sealed and clearly marked “recycle.”. Then place the items near the outgoing mail where they will be picked up and stored until they are picked up by Safety-Kleen.
Batteries
Batteries are recycled through OmniSource. There are containers throughout the campus for battery disposal. For bigger batteries please contact Building and Grounds Dept. If buckets need emptied, please contact pmeshelman@indianatech.edu.
Battery recycling containers can be found in the following locations:
- Cunningham 1st floor hall by the copier
- Zollner 1st floor east end
- Academic Center 1st floor lobby
- Schaefer Center 1st floor hallway
- Abbott 1st floor by vending machine
- Andorfer Commons by Office of Student Affairs
- Warrior Athletic Center 1st floor hallway
- Uytengsu 2nd floor
- Keene 2nd floor
- Warrior Fieldhouse hallway by vending machines
- Pierson 1st floor lobby
- Warrior Row C 1st floor lobby
- Oropeza 1st floor lobby
- Evans 1st floor lobby
- Yergens-Rogers 1st floor by vending machines
- Kalbfleisch lobby
Electronic waste
Electronic waste such as computers, televisions, microwaves, cell phones, and anything else that may have a circuit board are sent to OmniSource for recycling. None of these components are sent overseas. Contact Buildings and Grounds for questions or drop off locations.
Paper/cardboard
These are all recycled through Republic Services. Containers are provided for theses throughout campus.
Grease
Grease from the kitchen is recycled through Three Sons Sanitation.
Oil
Oil is recycled through Safety-Kleen. It is used in a fuel blend for heating.
Mercury-containing objects
Mainly consisting of our lights but includes any other mercury-containing objects, are recycled through Safety-Kleen. There the mercury is extracted from the objects collected and reused and glass is then sent off to be recycled.
