Reagan Hegg – Reflection 1

  • It’s officially day one of Memphis, I was excited and starting to get a little anxious.
  • It was my first time flying, and I can say that we had two smooth flights, and that I will be getting on these planes back to Fort Wayne.
  • Getting through TSA and security was easy, even though we did have a hiccup with someone forgetting their ID though.
  • When we landed in Memphis we went to the Soul Fish Cafe, and my family is probably not going to believe this, but I ate fried catfish tacos there.
  • After checking into the hotel, we went to the Ronald McDonald house. We had everything planned out that we wanted to do there, and then our time started, and we were just waiting for kids at first, like we had music playing and were exciting and having fun, but nobody was coming down to us. The first kid to show up was a girl around 11 years old named, Annaliese and she just wanted to hang out and have new people to play with her. Next to come down was Dossin. Dossin is about 3 years old, and was very shy at first, didn’t really want everyone hanging out, but was cool with playing games on the floor with Darius. David was next to come and join us, he’s 6 years old, and would go from playing to destroying everything. And the last kid to come play and hang out was Ivan, he was either 4 or 5 I’d say, he was really calm and just wanted new people to play games with him.
  • I don’t think that anyone was expecting our time at Ronald McDonald house to go like that. We didn’t have as big of a turn out as I think most of us expected, but after leaving I think that we all were happy with how it turned out because even though there were only those four kids that came down, they all had fun and got to do things that they enjoyed, and got to play with new people.
