When you pursue a degree in biomedical engineering at Indiana Tech, you will use cutting-edge technologies and learn modern engineering techniques related to current health care and medicine issues.   • Our biomedical engineering degree program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, under the General Criteria and the Bioengineering and Biomedical and Similarly Named Engineering Program Criteria.
  • You will be immersed in anatomy and physiology, including human cadaveric specimen labs and computer-aided design (CAD), starting in your freshman year.
  • During your sophomore and junior years, you will learn how to develop medical devices. A prototype of your design will be produced, using 3D printers, and will undergo lab testing.
  • You will research, design and develop a medical device that adheres to FDA regulations or conduct research for your final capstone project.

Jack Phlipot

Program Lead

Professor Phlipot’s background includes extensive experience in orthopedic medical device design and marketing. He has cultivated strong relationships with several medical device manufacturers in the “Orthopaedic Capital of the World,” Warsaw, Indiana. He brings much industry experience to the program and incorporates it into the class lectures and projects. His use of project-based learning (PBL) fully engages students in their learning; it improves their ability to work in a team and it helps them refine their critical thinking skills. The primary focus of this program is to develop students into career-ready engineers.
